Librarians were asked to do a book reading in a pub by a friend for his birthday. I heard about it through the grapevine and showed up. I wanted to see my friends reading children’s books on stage in a pub.
My sister and I arrived at the pub together. She greeted her everyone – almost all of them were friends of hers. The birthday man greeted me as a stranger and we exchanged introductions. The place was crawling with librarians. It was wonderful to see them!
The best line of the night (that wasn’t from a book) was from the man’s whose party it was. “No Simones were hurt in the injuring of this person.” It’s not what he meant, but this is far funnier.
